My educational philosophy is founded upon the basis that learning is authentic and generative when the individuals such as students
and teachers have contributed and taken ownership of the learning process. Each person is a unique individual and must
be treated with respect and great care. I believe that every individual learns through their personal experiences. Each person
has developed an element of self-knowledge that must be taken into account when they are instructed in the content areas in
a learning institution. I think it is vital to the mastery of the school to create a climate that allows students and teachers
to be accepted for who they are, and place no limits on what they can be. The institution must skillfully synthesize the students
learning, resources, and discipline that makes appropriate connections with their social environment. I believe that education
is a social issue. A student learns best when the classroom and community are connected. Parents, students, teacher, friends,
business, etc. all play an important part in the educational process. I feel it is when we isolate these environments that
students do not become well-rounded citizens.
I believe that the condition of the curriculum
is one of the most vital elements to the educational modus operandi. Not only should the climate and resources be suitable,
for each student, but also the standards and content should reach each need.
Our world has entered into the information age,
and technology is the avenue in which this information is being realized. By virtue of these facts, I believe that technology
must be placed in all aspects of the curriculum.
It is my belief that educators are not only counted
upon to transfer information, but actually teach students how they learn and how it applies to life. Since students learn
in a variety of ways, the teacher must teach in the same regard. In order for this to transpire, teachers must constantly
develop the art of teaching.
Furthermore, I am convinced that we must constantly
examine the condition of our teaching and learning. We must continually evaluate and modify pedagogy, learning styles, school
management, and relationships between school and the community in order to advance to the next plateau in education.
